The Jo Byrns boys basketball team celebrated Senior Night on Monday, but it was junior Jayden Caira that led the Red Devils to a 64-56 victory over visiting Cheatham County.
Caira finished with 22 points, four assists and three rebounds. He also made three shots from beyond the arc. The guard averages 19.1 points per game.
Collin Harper, one of the team’s three seniors, finished in double figures with 15. Classmates Boone Fletcher (9 points) and Bobby Ogg (6) also contributed in their final regular-season home game in Cedar Hill.
The Red Devils (6-13) held a 29-25 advantage at halftime and led the rest of the way. Cheatham County fell to 5-18.
Jo Byrns junior Bryce Cox added 10 points and six rebounds, while Cheatham County was led by Tristan Lee (13 points) and Tucker Carter (10).
Cheatham County lost to Rossview 54-45 on Tuesday. The Cubs were set to close the regular season by hosting White House Heritage on Friday.
Jo Byrns traveled to Red Boiling Springs for its finale on Thursday. The Red Devils host the District 9-A tournament beginning on Monday, Feb. 17.
