Stewart County defeated Cheatham County Central 36-0 on Friday night.

Stewart County held a 28-0 lead at half and scored eight more points in the third quarter to finish off the victory.

“We have to own it,” Cheatham County Central coach Dwayne Daniel said. “We didn’t play very well the first half and couldn’t overcome penalties throughout the game.”

John Martin got Cheatham off to a strong start with an opening kickoff return to the Rebels’ 37-yard line, but it went downhill quickly from there. Stewart County got the ball and scored to go up 6-0 with 6:30 in the first quarter.

Stewart County then tacked on another touchdown in the first quarter. Cheatham got the ball back once again, but turned it back over to Stewart County.

Stewart County quickly scored two more touchdowns before halftime. The Rebels led the Cubs 28-0 with 5:03 left in the second quarter, but that would be all the scoring for either team in the first half.

Stewart County forced a Cheatham turnover on downs and scored another touchdown and two-point conversion to go up 36-0 in the third quarter.

Cheatham (1-6) will host Greenbrier on Friday. The Bobcats (1-6) are coming off a 30-0 loss to Montgomery Central.
