Harper Dee pitched all six innings in a Cheatham County’s 4-2 loss to Houston County in the Clarksville Classic tournament on Saturday.

The game was tied 1-1 and the Cubs had the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth inning with only one out but didn’t score that inning.

Ansley Pfeffer hit a line drive with the bases loaded but the Houston County third baseman made a great play to catch it and double off the Cheatham County runner on third base.

“The momentum definitely shifted,” Cheatham coach Jahcenda Garrett said. “It gave the other team a little chip on their shoulder even though Pfeffer hit a laser, it’s tough not scoring those runs.”

Cheatham County lost 5-4 to Stewart County earlier in the day and also dropped the opening game of the tournament to Clarksville, 10-0 on Friday night.

“We definitely bounced back from a tough loss and our level of competition is steadily increasing,” Garrett said. “We just have to finish and stop leaving runners on base. We left 10 runners on base the first game and at least six or seven during the second.”
