POSSUMTOWN—Donelson Christian Academy picked up a key district road win Friday night with a 74-39 victory over Friendship Christian School.
Donelson Christian (17-6, 9-5) jumped out to a 16-12 lead at the end of the first period. The Wildcats went on a 15-10 run in the second to take a 31-22 lead at the half.
A highlight for the Commanders came in the second as Andrew Mathis hit a three-pointer that gave him 1,000 points for his career.
Donelson Christian put together a massive second half that both produced points and stymied the Friendship (9-19, 2-12) offense. The Wildcats went on a 21-9 run in the third to take a 52-31 lead at the end of the period. Donelson Christian outscored the Commanders 22-8 in the fourth.
Ben Singer led all scorers with 32 points that included four three-pointers. Blake Anderson finished with 12 points for the Wildcats.
Max Duckwiler led Friendship with 12 points that included a pair of three-pointers.
Donelson Christian also defeated Clarksville Christian 67-29 on Saturday night. Friendship fell to Clarksville Academy 42-39 on Saturday night.
The wins put Donelson Christian in a tie for third place with Nashville Christian (13-9, 9-5) in District 4-IIA Middle Region behind Goodpasture (19-3, 12-1) and Davidson Academy (18-4, 13-2), respectively.
Donelson Christian faced Davidson Academy on Tuesday night at home and will take on Ezell-Harding on Friday at home to close out the regular season. Friendship faced Mt. Juliet Christian on the road Tuesday night and will close out the regular season Friday night against Nashville Christian at home.
