Girls soccer: 20 high school players from the Nashville area to watch in 2021

TSSAA girls soccer regular-season games begin next week.

Here are 20 players to keep an eye on this fall. Names are listed in alphabetical order according to their school.

Kennedy Price (Sr., MF, Battle Ground Academy): The Ole Miss commit scored 24 goals and piled up 19 assists while starting 22 games last season for the defending Division II-A state champions.

Haley Hannah (Sr., MF, Brentwood): Hannah scored 21 goals and added three assists for the Bruins in 2019. She verbally committed to Kentucky in June.

Deklan Larring (Sr., F, Centennial): The University of Southern Indiana commit helped Centennial make its first district final in 15 years last season.

Caroline Betts (Sr., F, Christ Presbyterian Academy): Tennessee’s 2020 Gatorade Player of the Year is CPA’s all-time scoring leader with 175 goals. The Vanderbilt commit scored 39 last year in 35 games and also poured in 35 assists.

Caroline Moore (Sr., F, Christ Presbyterian Academy): The Oral Roberts commit was second behind Betts in scoring last season, totaling 64 goals and 52 assists.

Olivia Prim (Jr., MF, Father Ryan): The Irish graduated several valuable veterans. Prim returns as the only non-senior to have scored a goal in last season’s Division II-AA state championship win over Girls Preparatory School.

Emma Shields (Sr. MF, Franklin): Shields, a Richmond commit, returns for the Class AAA state runner-up Rebels after making the Tennessee High School Soccer Coaches Association All-State team as a junior.

Ava Weimer (Sr., DF, Franklin): The Tennessee commit has been a steady contributor for the Admirals, but she really emerged this summer on the club circuit with Tennessee Soccer Club.

Mary Bradley Myers (Sr, F, Grace Christian Academy): A THSSCA All-State member last season, she scored 18 goals and recorded 12 assists.

Hannah Clark (Sr., D/MF, Hendersonville): Clark, a UAB commit, helped get Hendersonville within a game of the Class AAA state tournament last year.

Natalie Dunn (Sr., F, Hume-Fogg): The 2020 THSSCA All-State selection scored 18 goals last season and has 75 in her career.

Amber Kimberling (Sr., GK, Northeast): Kimberling steadies the Northeast defense. She averaged more than 10 saves per game last season.

Ella Riley (Sr., DF, Oakland): Riley, an Arkansas commit, was a clutch performer for the Patriots last season.

Abby Thornton (Jr., MF, Page): As a sophomore, Thornton was an THSSCA All-State selection and the District 11-AA and Region 6-AA Most Valuable Player.

Riley Kate Collins (Jr., MF, Page): She tallied 10 goals and added four assists while claiming District 11-AA Offensive Most Valuable Player honors.

Molly Smith (Sr., F, Springfield): The Indiana State commit totaled 87 goals her freshman and sophomore seasons. She spent last fall training with a boys squad in the Tennessee Soccer Club.

Cassidy Houy (Sr., DF, Station Camp): The THSSCA All-State defender is complemented by scorers Emrie Springs and Elle Williams.

Lexi Grundler (So., Ravenwood): Grundler was fabulous as a freshman goalkeeper. She played a role in eight consecutive shutouts during one regular-season stretch and shut out Franklin in regulation of the Class AAA state finals.

Kinley Buena (Sr., F, Stewarts Creek): Her 28 goals helped Stewarts Creek to a 19-2-1 record and Class AAA state tournament berth last season.

Carys Correnti (So., F, Valor College Prep): Correnti scored 14 goals as a freshman to help Valor reach the Class A state tournament.
