BRENTWOOD—Two Donelson Christian Academy cross-country runners finished in the top 25 at the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association Division II-A State Championship Meet on Nov. 2 at Steeplechase.
Eighth grader Allie Bledsoe and junior Natalie Smith represented the Lady Wildcats at the state meet after seventh- and ninth-place finishes, respectively, at regionals Oct. 24 also at Steeplechase.
At the state meet, Bledsoe finished 21st overall with a 22:10. Smith finished 23rd overall with a 22:28.
“The course ran muddy and slow,” said Donelson Christian girls cross-country coach Josh Bledsoe. “They faced nine of the best teams from across the entire state. The girls ran shoulder to shoulder for nearly all of the race, slowly moving up in position after the first mile and finished strong at the finish line.”
Bledsoe said both Allie Bledsoe and Smith were pleased with their runs and hope to return to state next year and medal in the top 15.
CORRECTION: Junior Ben Singer led the Donelson Christian boys with a 13th-place finish overall with a time of 18:28 on Oct. 24 at regionals. The top 15 finish earned Singer a spot of the All-Region team, but not a chance to compete at the state championships, as was previously inaccurately reported.
