On Friday, Creek Wood competed for the TSSAA State Championship in bowling with Hardin County. A team the Lady Red Hawks have met three times now in the finals.
Hardin County defeated Creek Wood 18-5, but the Lady Red Hawks trailed by just ten pins after the American ten-pin game. Creek Wood took three of the six match points as Gabi Mann, Kiley Wright and Malaney Blaylock all won their point with scores of 203, 175 and 191, respectively.
Hardin County would go on to take four of the five Baker games, but Creek Wood was in striking distance until late in the contest.
The Lady Red dominated their way through the state tournament until the finals match with Hardin County. A 19-4 win over Rhea County in the first round and an 18-5 win over Bartlett in the semis gave Creek Wood momentum going into the final round.
The Lady Red Hawks fell just short in the final round as Hardin County won its 10th straight TSSAA girls’ state title.
Creek Wood also had seven bowlers compete in the individual state tournament, which took place on Wednesday. Out of all seven bowlers, Malaney Blaylock qualified for the stepladder finals. Blaylock finished in fourth place.
Christian Baker had the best day of Creek Wood’s boys at the state tournament. Baker finished in 8th place, just two spots out of the stepladder round.
