Dickson County and Independence split a basketball doubleheader in Thompson's Station on Tuesday, Jan. 5.

The Lady Cougars won the girls game 50-22, while the Eagles defeated Dickson County 60-46 in the boys contest. 

AC Milam led the Dickson County girls (3-4) with 12 points. Nine different Lady Cougars scored including a 10-point effort from Jenna Russell. Anna Leatherwood and Hanna Ingram added six points each.

Cristy Martinez, the lone senior on the Independence girls roster, led the way for the Lady Eagles with 11 points. Martinez scored half of the points for a rebuilding Independence (1-8) squad.

In the boys matchup, Cameron Bell carried Independence (6-6) with 15 points. Jett Montgomery added 14, and River Katina scored 12 to break into double digits.

Chanx Martin led Dickson County with 12 points, and Josh Cope added 10. Both Cope and Martin are freshmen on the young Dickson County (2-7) roster.

Dickson County also played Brentwood later in the week and will travel to Franklin on Tuesday, Jan. 12. Independence hosted Summit this past week and will host Spring Hill on Tuesday, Jan. 12.
