Logan Abbott gave Zion Christian a fourth-quarter lead with a 1-yard touchdown run Thursday night, but the Tennessee Heat answered with a pair of long scoring runs in a 27-20 victory.

Zion Christian rallied from an early deficit Thursday night to take a fourth-quarter lead before giving up a couple of big plays in a 27-20 loss to the Tennessee Heat.

Jaron Keyser’s 11-yard run in the second period pulled the Eagles (0-3) within a point, but the conversion attempt failed. After the Heat extended its lead to 14-6, Zion scored with 1:35 to play in the half on Brandon Porter’s 15-yard reception of a Keyser pass, and Max Brown caught a two-point pass from Keyser to make it a 14-all game at intermission.

Logan Abbott scored from a yard out three minutes into the fourth quarter to give Zion a 20-14 lead, but the Eagles came up short on the ensuing conversion.

The Heat answered with a 78-yard Ky-Ron Washington run and a successful extra point to move ahead with 7:36 to play, and Washington added a 56-yard scoring run in the final four minutes for the final margin.

On the pitch: Sarah Thompson scored a pair of goals, with Sophie Williams assisting on one, and Annabelle Damastus posted seven saves as Culleoka played visiting Fairview to a 2-2 draw. The Lady Warriors moved to 2-3-1 on the season.
