Another softball season has come and gone, meaning it’s time for Main Street Preps’ first-ever All-Montgomery County softball team!

Well, sort of. Unfortunately, only three coaches in the entire county provided nominations for the all-county team, so over half the schools in the area won’t have representatives on the team. Despite over one month of time and multiple reminders, the nominations are still missing.

But fret not — the players that are honored here are incredibly worthy and were going to be on this team regardless. Take nothing away from these excellent young athletes — they have earned this!

Without further ado, let’s get into it:

Player of the Year: Sydney Weatherford, Clarksville.

Why chosen: When someone says that an athlete can do it all, there still might be a gap in their game somewhere. That’s not the case with Sydney Weatherford — who, by the way, is also a two-time volleyball player of the year and first-team basketball honoree, too. Weatherford was the Wildcats’ primary pitcher all season while anchoring the lineup from the cleanup spot. When she wasn’t pitching, she was a defensive stalwart in left field.

Coach of the Year: Brian Rush, Clarksville.

Why chosen: Rush will tell you that this award should go to his players, and it’s easy to see why. He had a rock-solid core of eight seniors who had played together their entire lives, but they still need a guiding hand to take them as far as they got. Under Rush, the Wildcats compiled a 39-3-1 record before falling in sectionals.

Team of the Year: Clarksville Lady Wildcats.

Why chosen: Remember that record I just mentioned? They’re a home run choice for this honor. They didn’t lose a game to anybody else in the entire county all season long and made it further than everybody else in the area.
