Eight Montgomery County athletes named all-state by TSWA

The Tennessee Sports Writer Association has finished its rollout of the 2022 spring sports all-state teams, and Montgomery County is well-represented.

The area features eight honorees across five sports. Clarksville Academy has three honorees, Clarksville and Rossview each have two and Northeast has one.

Baseball All-State

DJ Merriweather, Clarksville Academy. Merriweather was named Main Street Preps’ Two-Way Player of the Year and Main Street Clarksville’s Player of the Year. He was a Division II-A Mr. Baseball finalist.

Cooper Wallace, Clarksville Academy. Wallace was a Main Street Preps all-county and Main Street Preps all-midstate third team selection.

Brady Cooper, Rossview. Cooper was a Main Street Clarksville all-county and Main Street Preps all-midstate first team selection.

Softball All-State

Abby Chappell, Clarksville. Chappell was a Main Street Preps all-midstate second team and Main Street Clarksville all-county first team selection. Cumberland commit.

Emberly Nichols, Clarksville. Nichols was named Main Street Preps’ Pitcher of the Year and Main Street Clarksville’s Player of the Year. Austin Peay commit.

Soccer All-State

Graham Duncan, Rossview. Duncan was a Main Street Clarksville all-county selection.

Softball All-State

Ayden Kujawa, Clarksville Academy. Kujawa went to three-straight state semifinals and is an Austin Peay commit.

Track and Field All-State

Cierra Bowser, Northeast. Bowser, a senior, made her first jump her best in the state long jump event, claiming her first state gold.
