Robertson County Schools have canceled all games from Dec. 16 through Jan. 3.

According to a statement from Robertson County Schools Athletics Director Pat Brown, all games will be canceled through the end of the calendar year.

Practice may continue on Monday, Dec. 21.

“RCS athletics will shut down game participation until Monday, January 4th,” Brown said. “Practice may resume on Monday, December 21st with TSSAA/RCS COVID-19 precautions in place."

Games will be played tonight, Tuesday, Dec. 15, before the teams separate until Dec. 21.

The decision was made to attempt to curb the spread of COVID-19. The Robertson County Board of Education talked about the decision Monday night at their meeting.

At the meeting, when asked about why teams can practice but cannot play games, Director of Schools Chris Causey mentioned the ability to control the exposure for practice versus a game.

Causey said, "An idea that has been presented is that games bring out the most fans, not practices, so the idea is we continue to practice because we can mitigate some of that risk."

The announcement followed the decision to move classes online for the rest of the semester.
