Nathan Robinson has completed quite the road trip this month, but it’s not a typical family trip for him and his dad.

The Greenbrier junior (Class of 2023) has been to seven college football camps already this month and will travel to Atlanta for the Rivals camp this week.

“It’s definitely been crazy,” Robinson said. “As a 16-year old, it’s kind of a lot to handle.”

Robinson is 6-foot-5 and weighs 245 pounds. He plays linebacker for GHS and has attended camps as an edge rusher. He said his strength and reach is a definite advantage now, but his speed is something he is focusing on.

“With my long arms I can stab on their shoulder and drive, but that won’t always work,” Robinson said. “So I need to really work on the speed part, which I’m not bad at, but anything could always be better.”

This month, he has racked up offers from some of the top programs in the country. Kentucky became the fourth SEC school to offer him after Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss. West Virginia and Virginia Tech also offered him after he attended their camps.

Greenbrier head coach John Elmore has talked with him about this process, and once the first big offers started pouring in, he told him there is more to come.

“After I got the Tennessee offer, he said it’s getting big-time,” Robinson said. “You need to get ready, and he was right.”

People have always told him that something like this was going to happen, but he was quick to shrug it off. Now, he is a sought after recruit before even having a rating on any major recruiting website.

Robinson’s conversations with others have been one of the biggest changes. Everyone from 247 reporters to family and friends want to know where his head is and where he is leaning, and his answer is simple.

“It’s more, ‘What are you planning on doing?’” Robinson said. “I’m like, ‘I don’t know.’”

He still has time. With two more years of high school left on the table, he can continue to pile up big-name offers.

It has been several decades since a Bobcat football player moved on to a Power Five school. He and upcoming senior Derek Taylor have a chance to change that and rep Greenbrier at the next level.

“No one’s heard about Greenbrier… It’s awesome just to have the opportunity to go far away and play football and actually be able to play games there.”

While the last month has been a whirlwind, this is likely only the beginning for Robinson.
