Four Centre (Ky.) College track and field athletes broke program records at the Steemer Indoor Showcase Feb. 22 in Springfield, Ohio.

Former Springfield High School standout Tanner May was one of them, posting a 7.03 in the 60m to finish in third place overall and break the previous program best set by Tristen Morrow in 2017.

May, a sophomore at Centre, wrapped up his indoor track season by running a 7.11 and finishing third in the Fred Wilt Invitational at Anderson University Feb. 29. The Colonels were set to continue with outdoor track season, though it is unclear whether that will happen due to the the coronavirus pandemic.

The 2018 Springfield graduate also plays defensive back for the Centre football team. He played baseball, football and ran track for the Yellow Jackets. The 5-foot-8, 152-pounder had 49 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery as a senior in 2017, when Springfield finished as the Class 4A state runner-up to Greeneville.
