Adarion Hudson

Springfield’s Adarion Hudson has been named The Connection’s 2018-19 Robertson County Boys Basketball Player of the Year. The Yellow Jacket senior was a scoring machine all season averaging 21 points a game, scoring a career-high 53 points in a game in January and passing the 1,000-point mark for his high school career.

East Robertson coach Kurt Caton is The Connection’s 2018-19 Robertson County Boys Basketball Coach of the Year. The first-year coach led his team to a 25-6 record and a spot in a sectional game.

Players were nominated by coaches and the final decisions were made by the sports staff of The Connection

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Adarion Hudson, senior, Springfield: Averaged 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists a game. Scored 53 points against Clarksville Northwest in January. Named to the 10-AAA All District team and the 10-AAA All District Tournament team.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Kurt Caton, East Robertson: In Caton’s first year the Indians rolled through the District 9-A regular season undefeated, won the district tournament and finished as runner-up in the Region 5-A Tournament. Their season ended just one game short of the Class A state tournament.

FIRST TEAM

Jayden Caira, sophomore, Jo Byrns: Averaged 16 points a game. Named to 9-A All District team and 9-A All District Tournament team.

Taylor Groves, freshman, East Robertson: Averaged 17.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.8 steals and 1 block a game. Named District 9-A MVP, 9-A All District Tournament team, Region 5-A All Tournament team.

Isaiah Hobdy, senior, East Robertson: Last year’s Connection County Player of the Year, Hobdy averaged 15.9 points, 9 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. Named to the 9-A All District team, 9-A All District Tournament team and Region 5-A All Tournament team.

Jacob Runkle, senior, White House Heritage: Averaged 12 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists per game. Named to the 9-AA All District team and was the 9-AA District Tournament MVP.

Darion Shannon, junior, East Robertson: Averaged 13.6 points, 4 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.7 steals per game. Named to 9-A All District team, 9-A All District Tournament team and Region 5-A All Tournament team.

SECOND TEAM

Josh Bale, senior, White House Heritage: Averaged 11 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists a game. Named to Region 5-AA All Tournament team.

Tywaun Black, senior, Springfield:  Averaged 8 points and 2.5 rebounds a game. Named to Region 5-AAA All Tournament team. Excellent defensive player.

Boone Fletcher, junior, Jo Byrns: Averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds a game. Named to 9-A All District team.

Dallas Polen, senior, Greenbrier: Averaged 8.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. Named to the 9-AA All-District team. Typically guarded the opposing team’s best player.

Dylan Stephens, senior, White House Heritage: Averaged 8 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks per game. Named to Region 5-AA All Tournament team.

HONORABLE MENTION

Keifus Coleman, senior, Greenbrier: Averaged 10.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2 blocks per game.

Ethan Freel, senior, White House Heritage: Very strong defender. Averaged 2 points and 2 rebounds per game.

Daltyn Hammonds, junior, East Robertson: Averaged 6.4 points per game. Shot 41% from 3-point range.

Noah Owsley, senior, White House Heritage: Averaged 5 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist per game.
