A pair of Robertson County-area athletes will continue their athletic careers at Belmont University.

Goodpasture senior Grace Gregory, who hails from White House, signed with the Lady Bruins softball team on Nov. 13. One week later, White House Heritage junior pitcher Caleb Guisewite committed to the Bruins baseball program.

Gregory batted .426 with 40 hits, 41 RBI, nine doubles and nine home runs as a junior at Goodpasture last season. She earned All-Region honors for her efforts. Gregory plays travel ball for VEXUS 18U Martin and is expected to see time at shortstop and in the outfield at Belmont.

“Grace impressed us the second she stepped on the field,” Belmont coach Megan Rhodes Smith said in a statement. “She has a presence about her and reacts quickly to what she sees. She will also compete for a spot in the outfield but has the ability to bring depth to the infield because of her athleticism and game smarts.”

Guisewite finished with a 1.68 ERA in 41.2 innings pitched last spring for the Patriots. He also struck out 59, walked 25 and allowed just 10 earned runs. That landed the right-hander on the All-Robertson County First Team.

He continued to improve his stock this summer and fall while playing for 5 Star 16U Midsouth. The Greenbrier resident announced his commitment to Belmont on Nov. 20.

“I would like to say thank you to the coaches at Belmont for the opportunity,” Guisewite said in a tweet. “I would also like to thank all the coaches, family, and friends who have me helped get to where I am today. I am very excited about my future with Belmont University!”

Belmont plays in the Ohio Valley Conference. The softball team finished 31-23 in 2019, while the baseball team went 27-30. Both eventually lost in their respective OVC postseason tournaments.
