Beech enters the field ready to play during a game earlier this season.

The normally run-heavy Beech Buccaneers showed off their passing game Friday against county rival Station Camp, completing four touchdown passes in a 41-6 win.

Senior starter Xaviere Jones had a career-high three touchdown passes in the game, and freshman Jackson Ford threw the fourth scoring strike for the Bucs.

We did a little bit better job throwing the ball,” Beech head coach Anthony Crabtree said. All the quarterbacks played well.”

Beech opened the game with an empty backfield and Jones hit a streaking Andrew Page on the sideline for a 57-yard touchdown pass.

On Beechs second play from scrimmage, Jones connected with Jackson Long on a 29-yard touchdown pass.

With 35 seconds left in the first half, Jones found Luke Curry with a 7-yard scoring pass.

The game plan was to throw,” Jones said. We executed it well. The offensive line gave me great time and the receivers came down with it.”

Jones completed seven of 10 passes for 155 yards to go with the three scores.

I thought our team played hard. We were able to get a good win,” Crabtree said.

Besides Jones three touchdown passes in the first half, Cameron McClanahan added a 1-yard touchdown run as the Bucs built a 27-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Ford found Errin Jolley in the corner of the end zone for a 9-yard touchdown pass. Darius Johnson raced 75 yards for a touchdown and the final score of the game.

Station Camp avoided the shutout with Ray Daviss four-yard touchdown run with 11:09 left in the fourth quarter.

The touchdown was set up by a 26-yard completion from sophomore quarterback Blake Lancaster to Davis to set up a first and goal at the Beech 5-yard line.

I was disappointed with how we started the game,” giving up touchdown passes on the first two plays, Station Camp head coach Brent Alexander said.

We made mistakes,” he said. They made mistakes too but with their experience, they were able to recover.”

The loss was Station Camps 22nd in a row as the Bison fell to 0-8 on the season. But Alexander sees improvement in his team. Were moving forward. Offensively we did some things.”

Lancaster completed 11 of 20 passes for 111 yards, and he rushed for 32 yards more to lead the Bison.

Beech running back Tysean Jefferson gained 113 yards on nine carries to lead the Bucs rushing attack. Patrick Hill added 47 yards on eight carries.

The win improved Beechs record to 6-1. Next week they travel to Gallatin to take on the Green Wave in a game that will decide the Region 6-5A championship.

Weve got to play a lot better than we did tonight,” Crabtree said. Were going to have to be physical. Were going to have to be really physical.”

Jones added his thoughts on the game: Its a rivalry game and its on the road. We definitely have to be prepared for that. The region championship on the line. Its going to mean a lot.”

Station Camp will host Mt. Juliet on Friday in a Region 4-6A matchup.
