Cameron Hansen signs with UT baseball

HENDERSONVILLE - Earlier this month Hendersonville baseball standout Cameron Hansen signed scholarship papers to continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Tennessee.
Hansen will play for second-year head coach Tony Vitello after lettering four years under Hendersonville head coach Mike Hendrix.
“Tennessee coaches have always been good to me,” Hansen said of his commitment to UT. “I really like coach Vitello and where I think the program is going. Coach [Andy] Gilley really helped me getting in contact with coach Vitello and coach Anderson the summer of my freshman year.”
Hansen went on three visits to UT, once during his sophomore year, his junior year and once more to go watch practice before his senior season.
“I really like the new attitude and the winning mentality coach Vitello is bringing to the team,” he said. “I really liked how coach Anderson has turned around the pitching staff, as well.”
Hansen will join Elijah Pleasants, Christian Rucker and Jake Rucker, all of whom he has known from either playing in the same town, all-stars or travel ball.
Hansen will study Kinesiology during his education in Knoxville.
“I plan to rest a little bit now that the season is over, but I’ll move in July 7.”
Over the course of his high school career, Hansen compiled a 18-5 record with 165Ks in 114 2/3 innings.
