HENDERSONVILLE – The Station Camp Lady Bison closed out the 2019 soccer season in the District 10-AAA semifinals Tuesday night following a 3-1 loss to city-rival Gallatin High School.

After taking a 1-0 lead 13 minuets into the match, Station Camp gave up three consecutive goals before the half to end their season.

“We let one mistake snowball,” Station Camp head coach Jeremy Cooke said. “We just couldn’t rebound from that one mistake. We only played maybe 15 minutes of bad soccer and in the second half we created chances we just couldn’t finish them. Give Gallatin credit they played really hard tonight and they wanted it more than us and they deserve it.”

Makenzie Anderson scored the only goal of the night for the Lady Bison on a Mya McKenzie pass for the 1-0 Station Camp lead.

Gallatin rebounded 17 minutes later on a counter attack following a Station Camp corner that saw Sierra Lee and Kyla Donley break away for a 2-on-1 that eventually led to a Lee goal.

The loss means that Station Camp will say goodbye to six seniors: Mary Allen McCormick, Madison Crisp, Zoe Cantrell, Katie Lombardi, Makenzie Anderson, and Jamie Sarmiento.

“It’s been a good year with my seniors,” Cooke said. “Fortunately I knew these girls prior to becoming their head coach through club ball and that was a big help. They did a good job with helping the young girls and I am thankful for that.”

Disappointed with the result, Cooke gave one last end-of-game speech to his team.

“I just wanted to let them know how much I appreciate them and wish them nothing but the best,” he said. “There is not really a whole lot you can say at the end of the season; they are already disappointed. I just try to let them know they have a lot of life left and that they are welcome back in our program anytime.”

Station Camp ends the 2019 season at 8-9 overall.
