GALLATIN - Addie Lange’s life-long goal of continuing her softball career at the next level came to fruition Friday afternoon at Station Camp High School as the senior softball standout signed to continue her academic and athletic career at Volunteer State Community College.
Lange, a fourth-year member of the Station Camp softball team, was joined by her coaches, family and friends for her big day.
“It’s really awesome to have all the support from my family, friends and coaches,” she said. “I’m excited to continue with the next step in my softball career.”
Before Lange moves on to Volunteer State, she still has her senior softball season to play this year, where she plans on making memories that will last a lifetime.
“I think signing today will take a lot of pressure off of me for my senior year,” she added. “I don’t have to stress about if I’m going to play at the next level; I can just go out and play and have a great senior year with my teammates.”
Joining Lange for her singing were future Vol State coaches Johnny Lynn and Jimmy Buckner.
“First off, Addie is a great person that comes from a great family,” Lynn said of why he wanted to bring No. 14 into his program. “She is going to be able to come in and contribute immediately to our team. She is a hard worker that I know will fit in to what we want to do at Volunteer State.”
Lange mentioned she had other full-ride offers, but the appeal of playing right down the road from her house and her high school was something too good to pass up.
“Being able to have my family, friends and coaches come watch me was a big deal,” she added. “I also like that I can go right down the road to sharpen my skills as a player so that when my time is up [to transfer] I can be a better all-around player.”
Hitting coach Bill Cartwright was also in attendance for Lange’s signing, stating that he believes she has everything it takes to be great at the next level.
“The big thing with Addie is she is such a hard worker in all that she does,” he said. “I know that she will be successful when she moves on to Vol State because that is the type of work ethic and drive that she has.”
Lange says she is undecided on what her major will be, but added that the nursing program is something she will look into.
