The year 2020 has had its ups and downs when it comes to sports, but golf allowed for social distancing – and the Fairview Middle School Golf Teams are celebrating a victorious 2020 season.
The Fairview Middle boys were focused and consistently scored low to take first place in every match except for one. In that one match, they were still close with a strong second place finish.
The Lady Falcon golfers also enjoyed a remarkable 2020 season on the greens. The girls steadily improved their game throughout the season by shaving off strokes each match and putting tighter groupings at each practice.
When the regular season ended, FMS golfers returned to the course to compete in the District Championship match and faced some tough competition to finish up the match as the runner up.
The student golfers who qualified to play were:
Taylor Hughes with an average score of 24
Aiden Pronk with an average score of 27
Ethan Pronk with an average score of 28
Matthew Coleman with an average score of 31.
FMS Golf Coach Susan Hughes said, “We also had two wonderful alternates that stepped up to the tee box in a big way.”
As a sixth grader representing, Wyatt Davis played his best game ever and help the team secure second place. Joe Lambert, a seventh grader, was also an alternate for the school and did an amazing job to help the team to victory.
FMS Lady Falcons who represented were Alexa and Ansley Cooper.
