Two Wilson County baseball standouts have been named All-State by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association.

Brandon Watts from Watertown and Camden Haylsip from Friendship Christian School graduated from their respective schools with the Class of 2021 and will be enrolling this fall to play at the college level.

Watts, an infielder/RHP, was named to the Class 2A All-State team after helping lead the Purple Tigers to a record of 27-7, the District 7AA and Region 4AA championships and a the program’s first berth in the TSSAA Sate Tournament.

Headed to NAIA power Lindsey Wilson College this fall, Watts hit .405 with six homers, five doubles and a triple. Piling up a slugging percentage of .678, he drove in 40 runs, walked 14 times and stole 15 bases.

On the mound, Watts went a perfect 9-0 with an ERA of 1.06 in 59 innings of work. He struck out 93 batters and allowed just seven earned runs all season.

Hayslip, an Alabama signee, was a LHP/outfielder for the FCS Commanders, making the Division II-A All-State team as a pitcher.

He went 5-0 during the season with an ERA of 0.78 with 60 strikeouts in 36 innings of work.

At the plate Hayslip hit .442 with 39 RBI. He drilled 12 home runs, drew 30 walks – 15 intentional. He was 24-for-24 on stolen bases and scored 32 runs.
