The Christ Presbyterian Academy Lions baseball team swept the Battle Ground Academy Wildcats last week. CPA outscored BGA 15-3 in the two-game series.

CPA 5, BGA 3

On Monday, the Lions jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third inning, and held off a late BGA rally to take Game 1.

Kane Patterson got the scoring started with a sac fly to center field for the 1-0 lead, followed by an RBI double from Sanders Whiteside and an RBI single rom Knox Preston that ran the Lions’ lead to 3-0.

A few batters later, J.J. Williams hit a fly ball to center field, however, an error by Whitt McDaniel allowed two more runs to cross with CPA taking a 5-0 lead into the fourth.

In the top of fifth, BGA finally plated a run when Blake Rowe stole home after a drawing a walk, stealing second base and advancing to third on a Wyatt Wilson single to cut the deficit to 5-1.

In the top of the sixth, BGA cut the deficit to 5-3 on an RBI single from Wyatt Greenwalt and a fielder’s choice that scored Teddy Holloway, who singled earlier in the inning.

Needing a rally in the top of the seventh, Tanner Morgan induced three ground ball outs to end the game.

Morgan earned the complete game win, allowing just three runs on six hits with eight strikeouts. Greenwalt took the loss, allowing one unearned run and no hits in 2.1 innings, while Caleb Fleming allowed four runs on four hits in 3.2 innings of relief.
