Friday in District 9AAA play –

GLADEVILLE — Beech swept both ends of a District 9AAA doubleheader Friday, Dec. 13 at Wilson Central High.

The Lady Bucs won the opener 62-50, closing out the contest on a 19-8 run.

Friday’s nightcap found Beech jumping to a 19-6 lead, then pulling away in the second half for a 66-43 victory over the Wildcats.

Red-hot shooting at the charity stripe helped lead Beech to a 62-50 victory over Wilson Central.

The Lady Bucs connected on 10-of-12 fourth quarter charity attempts and finished 16-of-22 (73 percent) at the line for the game.

Beech (7-1 overall, 2-0 district) led 15-12 after one period and 30-27 at intermission.

Junior Sydnee Richetto drilled four 3-pointers and led the Lady Wildcats with 24 points. Jakoria Woods chipped in with 8 points, Campbell Strange added 7, Nicole Brill had 5 and Jasmin Angel 5 for WCHS.

Four Beech players scored in double figures including Deshiya Hoosier with 20, Mia Dean with 13, Laci Walmer with 11 and Bri Ellis with 10.

Now 4-3 overall, 1-1 in the district, Central is scheduled to visit Columbia Dec. 20 and 21 for the B4 Christmas State Farm Classic.

Coach Erica Wilson’s team will take on Lawrence County Friday afternoon and host Columbia Saturday.

(boys) Beech 66, Wilson Central 43 –

Visiting Beech had too much firepower in Friday’s 66-43 District 9AAA win at Wilson Central.

The Buccaneers saw three players reach double figures, led by Jyquade Matthew and Kaleb Powell with 18 points each and Drew Page with 17.

Beech led 19-6 after one quarter and 34-17 at intermission.

As a team, BHS out-rebounded Wilson Central 30-15 and scored 14 points off the bench.

Caleb Lawrence led Wilson Central with 13 points, followed by Adler Kerr with 11 and Jordan Beard with 5.

The Wildcats shot 17-of-45 from the field (37 percent) and managed just six trips to the line, hitting four free throws.

Now 3-3 on the season and 0-2 in 9AAA, Wilson Central is scheduled to play Chattanooga Arts & Science 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Aflac Christmas Tournament, hosted by Watertown High.

Thursday’s game is scheduled for the Watertown Middle School gymnasium.
