NASHVILLE – The Hendersonville-Station Camp-Beech hockey team shut out Father Ryan 3-0 on Wednesday night at Centennial Sportsplex, keeping the Commandos undefeated in the Preds Cup playoffs.
Hendersonville-Station Camp-Beech (2-0-0, 4 points) joins Brentwood (3-0-0, 6 points) as the only remaining undefeated teams left in the Preds Cup playoffs. One team will suffer its first loss on Friday when Commandos play the Bruins at 8:15 p.m. at Ford Ice Center in Antioch.
Matthew Siciliano put HHS-SC-BHS ahead in the first period when he beat Father Ryan goalie Carson Mielnik for the 1-0 lead. Conrad Murphy tallied an assist on the goal.
In the second period, Slava Yarger pushed the Commando lead to 2-0 with 3:30 left in the period, assisted by Jaxon Rathert and Joseph Philpot. HHS-SC-BHS increased its lead to 3-0 in the final period on and Alex Yarger goal to seal the 3-0 shutout win.
HHS-SC-BHS goalie Brandon Shaw remained the hottest goaltender in the playoffs, stopping all 15 shots he faced. Shaw currently leads all playoff goalies with a 0.00 goals-against average and a save percent of 1.000.
Mielnik stopped 17 of the 20 shots he faced for Father Ryan.
HHS-SC-BHS returns to the ice on Friday against Brentwood, while Father Ryan will play MBA at 8 p.m. at Centennial Sportsplex, also on Friday.
