The Oakland Lady Patriots won in dominant fashion with a 49-26 victory over the Cane Ridge Lady Ravens on Tuesday night at home.

Claira McGowan scored 23 points for the Lady Patriots as she scored 15 of her points by 3-pointers. Jada Anthony was the leading scorer for the Lady Ravens with eight points.

“It was part of the flow of the game my teammates were really doing a great job finding me and were able to get me all the open shots I needed.” McGowan said.

It was a 7-0 run for the Lady Patriots that jump-started the team as McGowan hit a 3-pointer and followed it up with a layup for five early points.

The Lady Ravens did get on a 10-8 run to finish the opening quarter at a deficit of 15-10 after Charlee Floyd scored on two free throws.

“We turned the ball over too much and missed too many open shots that stopped our team from getting going.” Anthony said.

In the second quarter, it became a 30-12 lead for the Lady Patriots as McGowan hit back-to-back 3-pointers and Dakoria Puckett, followed it with a three pointer of their own.

The Oakland Patriots fell after the Cane Ridge Ravens staged a furious comeback in the second half on Tuesday night.

Lamarius Jackson scored 19 points for the Patriots, while CJ Williams led the Ravens with 11 points.

“We kept fighting we were down but knew that we had a chance to turn it around in the second half,” Williams said.

It was an early 13-2 lead for the Patriots as their defense smothered the Ravens and created turnovers as Jackson scored six points in the first quarter.

Jackson scored six more points in the second quarter to give the Patriots a 24-11 edge, but two scores by Sammy Sanchez, including a buzzer beating layup closed the deficit nine at halftime.

“we let the game get away from us we should have won that game, we felt confident we just turned the ball over.’ Jackson said.

In the third quarter, during what seemed like a potential blowout Jackson hit a corner three to give the Patriots a 36-19 lead.

The Ravens cut the deficit down to eight at the end of the third quarter, including four points by Williams.

In the fourth, the Patriots could not get anything going on the offensive end of the court as the Ravens defense smothered them as the Ravens went on a 14-2 run.

Caleb Wilson punctuated the scoring outpour for the Ravens when he broke away for a dunk that gave his team a 46-41 lead and sealed the game.
