The Clarksville Academy Cougars won by 40 points for the second consecutive week, this time shutting the Grace Christian Lions out 40-0.

The offense has been highly effective despite starting inexperienced sophomore Miller Barnett at quarterback. Of course, it helps that he has been supported by every other unit.

“I can’t tell you the exact stats, but I think (Barnett) had eight incompletions tonight,” said Clarksville Academy coach John Crosby. “He had a really good showing at quarterback. Our defense pitched a shutout and played really well. We had a pick six. We played well on special teams. It was really a group effort in all facets of the game.”

Now 2-0 heading into region play with a plus-80 point differential, the team is understandably excited about their potential.

“(The team feels) great,” Crosby said. “Everybody’s been rocking and rolling on the bus tonight. Everybody’s fired up to get into region play next week and get back to work and try to win next week. Everybody’s in a good spot right now.”

The Cougars will host Fayette Academy (1-1) on Friday, Sept. 6.
