Rex Edmondson puts up a free throw against Waverly.

WAVERLY — Emily Michael scored 18 points, Allie Burgess added 14 and Raegan Hohl and Bryanna Moore both scored 10 apiece as Creek Wood beat Waverly Central 68-38.

Ten Lady Red Hawks scored to put away the Lady Tigers. Creek Wood coach Russell Wilson was happy with his team’s effort.

“It was a good district win,” Wilson said. “We were able to jump out to an early lead and we were able to maintain it.”

Creek Wood jumped on Waverly almost immediately, going up 25-7 at the end of the first quarter. Allie Burgess and Emily Michael both hit from behind the arc twice in that first quarter with Raegan Hohl adding one of her own. Raegan Taylor also got four points to strengthen the Creek Wood lead.

Waverly Central 74, Creek Wood 61 (Boys): Tim Randolph led the way for Creek Wood with 17 points, but Waverly had its own fair share of firepower as Clayton King (23) and JD Dixon (22) combined for 55 points to put Creek Wood away.

“Waverly shot the ball really well and we just couldn’t get enough stops to get their lead below four or five points,” Creek Wood Red Hawks coach Charles Taylor said. “We had one of our best offensive nights but we struggled to guard them.”

Bryson Payton, Richard Payton, and Kayden Austin all scored in double figures.
