With Spring Fling concluding, it’s time to turn our attention to the high school football season.

While we still have a little over two and-a-half months before the regular season kicks off, we’ll be taking a look at the top five returning position players over the summer to help prepare you for the prep football season.

The first position group we’ll take a look at is the quarterbacks. Below are the top returning QBs in Davidson County with potential breakout candidates:

DC Tabscott

1 - DC Tabscott, Father Ryan

2018 stats: 137-250 for 1,409 yards, 9 touchdowns, 10 interceptions

Father Ryan only had a 2-9 record last season and was 0-6 in district play. However, Tabscott has been working diligently over the summer, attending camps and improving as he looks to lead the Irish to a playoff appearance.

Arondai Thompson

2 - Arnodai Thompson, East Nashville

2018 stats: 107-184 for 1,710 yards, 14 touchdowns, 7 interceptions

The Eagles are coming off a 10-2 season, making it to the second round of the 3A playoffs. While East Nashville lost departed seniors Jashon Watkins and Rondarius Gregory, Thompson will still have some weapons to work with including Lester Shaw, Yukari Blanchard and Demick Starling.

Sean Casey

Sean Casey

3 - Sean Casey, FRA

2018 stats: 81-178 for 1,106 yards, 11 touchdowns, 10 interceptions

Casey led FRA to the third round of the DII-AA playoffs before falling to eventual state runner-up Battle Ground Academy. Looking to build off an 8-5 record last season, Casey will still have Kingston Gardner to throw to, but he’ll need to break in some new targets with the departures of Brogan Wilson, Lance Wilhoite and Riley Speed.

Brayden Bonds.jpg

Brayden Bonds

4 - Brayden Bonds, Nashville Christian

2018 stats: 58-126 for 974 yards, 10 touchdowns, 7 interceptions

Despite a 4-6 regular season in 2018, Bonds and the Eagles got hot come playoff time, making it to the third round of the DII-A playoffs before losing to eventual state champion Davidson Academy. Bonds will have the benefit of having both of his running backs return as Micah Fann and Dakota Owens return for their senior seasons.

Breakout candidates:

1 – Gerard Bullock, Ensworth

2 – Jalen Macon, Hillsboro

3 – Cameron Davis, Whites Creek
