The Ensworth Tigers took two of three games from the Lipscomb Academy Mustangs, taking wins on Tuesday and Wednesday before dropping the series finale on Thursday.
Ensworth 12, Lipscomb Academy 2
In the first game of the series, a seven-run second inning was all the Tigers needed as they held the Mustang bats silent for most of the day.
Garrett Schultz earned the win, allowing just three hits and two runs over five innings. He also struck out six batters. Schultz (3), Patrick Vanderbergh (2), Devon Obee (2) and Morgan Willis (2) all had multiple RBIs.
Lipscomb Academy’s two runs came on a Nicholas Paschall two-run home run in the fourth inning.

The second game was back and forth, seeing Lipscomb Academy come back and tie it twice before the Tigers scored the go-ahead run in the sixth to pull out the win.
Elijah Brooks took the win, allowing five runs and seven hits over five innings. Drew Byers picked up the save with two strikeouts and one hit in one inning. Alex Smitherman took the loss, surrendering five runs on four hits in 3.2 innings.
Obee (2), Schultz (1), Brooks (1) and Byers (1) had the Ensworth RBIs, while Paschall (4) and Jack O’Dowd (1) had the Lipscomb RBIs.

In the final game of the series, Lipscomb Academy finally found a way to silence the Ensworth bats in the 6-4 win.
Houston High earned the win in relief, allowing no hits and one run over two innings. Vanderbergh took the loss, allowing four runs and four hits in 1.1 innings of relief.
Ensworth held a 3-0 lead before Lipscomb added a run in the fourth and two in the sixth to tie it 3-3. In the top of the seventh, RBI singles from Zev Napier, Garrett Stacker and Paschall put the Mustangs ahead 6-3.
In the bottom of the seventh, Ensworth added a run but Hill got Obee to pop out to seal the win.
