MBA 7, Tennessee Outlaws 2

The Montgomery Bell Academy Big Red hockey team (8-0-0) remained undefeated, topping the Tennessee Outlaws 7-2 on Monday night at Centennial Sportsplex. 

MBA took a commanding 4-0 lead in the first period. Brandon MacDonald-Surman put the Big Red up 1-0 10:21 into the period, assisted by Benjamin Lindsey and Tyler Laub. Four minutes later, Lindsey tallied a goal of his own with assists from John Aron and Brennan Roach. 

Moments later, Laub scored an unassisted goal to push the MBA lead to 3-0, and William Morrison pushed that lead to 4-0 with 1:10 left in the period, assisted by Luke Haley. 

In the second period, MacDonald-Surman struck again, this time shorthanded, giving MBA a 5-0 lead. Morrison tallied his second goal of the game with 9:08 left in the period – assisted by Haley – then with 3:17 left Haley extended the lead to 7-0 on the power play, assisted by MacDonald-Surman.

Down 7-0, the Outlaws (3-4-1) tallied two third-period goals courtesy of Gage Coon, assisted by Braydon McCandless, and Michael Slade, assisted by Lane Harris. However, it was too little too late as that was as close as the Outlaws would get.

MBA goaltender Jack Moschel stopped 9 of the 11 shots he faced. Outlaws goaltender Brent Kitchens stopped 30 of 37 shots.

JPII/CPA 3, USN/DCA/MLK 0

The JPII/CPA Knights (4-2-2) picked up their fourth win of the season, topping USN/DCA/MLK 3-0 Monday night at Centennial Sportsplex.

JPII took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal from captain Max Galpin. Dylan Guy and Tommy Chunchukov tallied assists. In the second period, Galpin struck again — this time on the power play – as Guy and Chunchukov added their second assists of the game. 

In the third period, Guy did the scoring himself with 4:56 left in the game, assisted by JT Ernst. JPII goalie Jackson Cook recorded his first career shutout, stopping all 17 shots he faced. USN/DCA/MLK goalie Carson Dorfman stopped 34 of the 37 shots he faced.

Ravenwood 5, Mt. Juliet 0

The Ravenwood Raptors continued their torrid start to the season, rolling past the Mt. Juliet Golden Bears 5-0 Monday night at Centennial Sportsplex.

Ravenwood jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on two goals from Sean Karaman – once on the power play — assisted by Tristan Hedge and Caleb Verpoort. 

In the second period, the Raptors pushed their lead to 4-0 as Hedge scored unassisted at 13:28 and Karaman finished the hat trick two minutes later with an assist from William MacDonald. 

Liam Hussey capped of the 5-0 win in the final period, unassisted, as the Raptors improved to 7-1-1, sitting in second place in the GNASH league with 14 points. 

Ravenwood goaltender Logan Verpoort posted a shutout, stopping all 23 of the shots he faced. Mt. Juliet goalie Michael Dillard stopped 20 of the 25 shots he saw.

Ensworth/Nolensville 4, Franklin/Hume-Fogg 2

The Ensworth/Nolensville Tigers (2-5-0) edged the Franklin/Hume-Fogg Rebels (0-6-3) 4-2 Monday night at Centennial Sportsplex. 

It was a tight game early on as the teams were tied 2-2 after the first period. Franklin got two goals from Hunter White, assisted by Joey Cuthbert and Matt Yurjevich. Ensworth’s goals were courtesy of Dewitt Thompson on the power play and Dalton Davis. Aiden Plourde, Dillon Knight, and Zach Caddo all added assists. 

In the second period, Ensworth/Nolensville pulled away. Macallan Parikh gave the Tigers a 3-2 lead, assisted by Plourde and Chase Adolf, then Knight tallied with 1:15 left in the period to push the lead to 4-2. It was a defensive stalemate in the third period with Ensworth/Nolensville sealing the win. 

Ensworth/Nolensville goaltender Anthony Alvarez put on a show, making 30 saves on 32 shots – a .938 save percent. Franklin/Hume-Fogg goaltender Christopher Dickens stopped 12 of the 16 shots he faced.
