Weekly throws for 4 touchdowns –
SEYMOUR – With starting tailback Tyson Wolcott unable to answer the bell due to injury, Friendship Christian relied on the arm of Garrett Weekly to secure a Division II-A East road win at The King’s Academy Friday.
Weekly completed 9-of-17 pass attempts for 274 yards and four touchdowns to three different receivers as the Commanders improved to 5-0 headed into a Sept. 23 home game with Maplewood.
Brock Montgomery hauled in four passes for 152 yards including touchdowns of 84 and 32 yards.
Channing Anthony caught two balls for 37 yards and a score while JJ Pruneau caught one pass for a 55-yard TD.
Sophomore Will Thompson filled in for the ailing Wolcott and responded with 26 yards on 7 attempts.
As a team, FCS piled up 319 yards on 46 offensive snaps and 11 first downs.
Senior defensive back Tylor Smiley intercepted a pair of TKA passes while Garrett de Araujo Jorge recovered a fumble.
The Commander defensive unit limited The King’s Academy (1-4) to just 111 yards and 6 first downs.
