Luke Gossett is expected to receive many of the carries out of the Harpeth backfield this season.

After going 2-8 with a 1-4 record in district play last season, Harpeth coach Doug Loope said he is ready to get the Indians back on track.

“I’m feeling good about this team,” Loope said. “We might have just enough to be dangerous. Guys are working hard this summer and numbers are up, so I’m cautiously optimistic about 2019.”

Harpeth had just seven seniors on last year’s team so this year’s squad has quite a bit of returning production and maybe even some new faces to help carry the load.

“(Luke) Gossett will be our hoss, but we’ve got (Thomas) Sloan, (Aaron) McWright, (Davion) Primm, (Matthew) Pack, and a transfer named Steven Rich to provide some balance and exciting options on both sides of the ball,” Loope said.

“We even have a good freshman class which helps this year and promotes optimism for down the road.”
