9-AAA tournament looms next week --

GLADEVILLE -- Mt. Juliet High's basketball teams closed out the regular season by sweeping a District 9-AAA twin bill at Wilson Central High Friday, Feb. 8.

The Lady Bears maintained second place in the district with a 51-44 victory over the Lady Wildcats in the opener while the Golden Bears won 69-43 in the nightcap.

Mt. Juliet's junior post Emma Palmer scored 22 points in the opener as the Lady Bears improved to 22-4 overall / 12-2 in the district.

Ninth grader Reghan Grimes added 10 points while Tondriannha Davis and Neveah Majors each had seven. Ryleigh Osborne rounded out the MJHS scoring with five points.

Sydnee Richetto led Wilson Central with 18 points and Teoria Woods added 14.

Sydney Dalton and Nicole Brill each had three points; Kaylee Richetto, Dottie McSpadden and Jaycie Cowan had two points apiece.

With the win, No. 2-seeded Mt. Juliet will take on No. 7-seed Hendersonville 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13 at Gallatin's Jerry Vradenburg Gymnasium.

Wilson Central (15-9 / 6-8), the district's No. 5 seed, will tackle No. 4-seed Station Camp Thursday 8 p.m.

GLADEVILLE -- Down 15-12 in the early going, District 9-AAA regular season champion Mt. Juliet scored a 69-43 victory over rival Wilson Central High Friday.

Coach Troy Allen's squad went on a 21-8 second period run and took a 36-20 lead into intermission.

Junior guard Will Pruitt scored 21 points for the Golden Bears while J.C. Crawford added 14 and Gage Wells finished with 13.

Caleb Lawrence paced Wilson Central with 10 points. Jordan Beard had eight and Tyler Hayes seven.

With the win, Mt. Juliet put the icing on a 13-1 District 9-AAA mark (24-2 overall) while the Wildcats slipped to 10-17 on the season and 4-10 in the district.

Top-seeded MJHS will take on No. 8-seeded Portland 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 at Gallatin's Jerry Vradenburg Gymnasium.

Wilson Central, seeded 7th, will take on No. 2 seed Lebanon Friday at 4 p.m. in a loser out contest.
