LEBANON – The Page Patriots baseball team split its weekend doubleheader, beating Gordonsville 5-2 before falling 2-1 to Wilson Central in the evening tilt.

The Patriots opened the game with a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning after Eston Snider scored on a dropped third strike to Ronnie Caricofe, followed by an RBI double from Cade Walker.
Page added to its lead in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI double from Caricofe for a 3-0 lead, followed by an RBI single from Walker for the 4-0 advantage.
Gordonsville plated two runs in the top of the sixth, then Page added one when Kefauver scored on a passed ball to close the scoring at 5-2.
Caricofe and Walker each had two RBIs, while Andrew Sullivan and Kefauver tallied a hit apiece.
Jude Barcus was dominant on the mound, allowing just two hits in five innings. Caricofe pitched 1.1 innings in relief, allowing three hits and no runs.
Wilson Central 2, Page 1
The Wilson Central Wildcats were just too much for Page to overcome, taking a 2-1 win and holding off a Patriot rally in the final two innings.
Wilson Central took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first innings on an RBI double from Matthew Jenkinson that brought home Cole Ferguson. The Wildcats added to that lead in the fourth inning thanks to a bases-loaded walk that brought home Gabe Jennings for the 2-0 lead.
Page tried to rally in the bottom of the sixth when Hunter Lillard doubled to center field, scoring Christian Tidmore to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The Patriots tried to rally again in the bottom of the seventh. After a Snider single and Sullivan walk, Page had two runners on with just one out. However, Caricofe struck out, then after a Cade Walker walk, Tidmore struck out to end the game.
Til Chesire took the loss, allowing two runs and six hits over 5.1 innings. He also struck out six batters. Tidmore threw 1.2 innings in relief, allowing one hit and striking out two.
