BELL BUCKLE-- Webb started out hot, hitting five of its first seven shots en route to an easy 70-37 lead over PCA in the Division II Middle Region Championship game Monday.

Lashae Dwyer and Lauren Vann combined for 50 of the Feet's 70 points as they advanced to the next round of the tournament.

"We had turnovers and missed shots and they took advantage," PCA coach Tara James said. "You cannot start in a hole against a team that is that talented. Webb shot a great percentage as well."

Dwyer and Vann scored 33 points combined in the opening half as they had a 41-20 lead at the break.

"She should have been considered for Miss Basketball," Webb coach Matt Shewmake said of Dwyer. "She is a special kid. The Goodpasture coach said that she is the best player that the coach has seen and he cannot simulate her in practice."

In the second half, the lead continued to build as Dwyer took an inbounds lob and put it in at the third quarter horn to extend the lead to 30.

After a few minutes in the fourth quarter, the reserves closed things out for PCA. The Lions will still advance to play a home game Wednesday as it will be the last game in their current gym before moving into a newer facility later this year.

"The kids have earned another home game," James said.

PCA's Mariah Edmonds and Abby McFarland were chosen for the region all-tournament team.

"(McFarland) used to just be a scorer with the 3-point shot, but now she plays good defense and rebounds well," James added.
