The Stewarts Creek Red Hawks soccer team saw its season end with a 4-1 loss to Ravenwood in the TSSAA state tournament quarterfinals at Richard Siegel Park on Wednesday.

"It was just too big a mountain to climb." Stewarts Creek coach Jeff Marlow said. "I am just sorry we are not playing tomorrow."

Ravenwood dominated play in its end the majority of the first half and had several good chances to put the ball in the net.

In the first minute, the Raptors hit the post with a shot and also hit a post

in the 27th minute.

Ravenwood scored a pair of goals in a seven-minute span off of a pair of set  pieces on corner kicks. Josie Ricketts put two balls in the back of the net off of passes from Anna Jahr.

"We had a lot of great opportunities but we always talk about taking advantage of them," Ravenwood coach Brandon Mead said. "I am proud of the girls for getting into the semifinals."

At the beginning of the second half,  Stewarts Creek tried to regain the momentum  and had appeared to do so when a pass from Dakota Mitchell went on to the foot of Emalee Aguaro and she put it into the left corner  to cut the deficit to 2-1.

"We had to close the game from that point and I thought we had the momentum," Marlow said. "There is no excuses as we were down two starters today."

Ravenwood would put two more balls into the net as Marcela Forero finally put a ball past the keeper after hitting the posts twice, and Mia Fraser scored off of a rebound off of the goaltender's chest for the final tally.

Stewarts Creek closed its season at 19-3-1.
