WATERTOWN -- Goalkeeper Nathan Fish turned away 26 shots in goal and Jared Tomson scored in the first 10-minute overtime period to lift Watertown to a 1-0 victory over Nashville's RePublic High School Tuesday evening in the opening round of the Region 4-A tournament.
With the win, the Purple Tigers improved to 14-1-2 and will host Merrol Hyde Thursday at 7 p.m. in the region finals.
The game was deadlocked at 0-0 at the end of regulation, but a nifty pass from Cole Knapp found Tomson open for the eventual game winner roughly five minutes into the first 10-minute overtime period.
Watertown managed to play keep away for the final 10-minute OT period.
Fish was the defensive star of the game, stopping shot after shot from RePublic.
Thursday’s winner will host a Class A sectional Saturday while the loser goes on the road. Saturday's winners will advance to the TSSAA Spring Fling in Murfreesboro.
