Three games scheduled Oct. 9 –

Fall break has taken a bite out of the 2020 Wilson County football schedule as only three games will be played involving local teams.

Mt. Juliet, Lebanon, Friendship Christian School and Watertown are all idle this week. Here’s a look at what’s on tap Friday.

York Institute at Green Hill

Fresh from last week’s 52-6 victory over Nashville Stratford, upstart Green Hill High will try to make it two wins in a row Friday as Class 3A Alvin C. York Institute visits the north Mt. Juliet campus for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

The Dragons, who hail from Jamestown on the Upper Cumberland, enter Friday’s contest 1-5 and losers of four in a row.

Last week York dropped a 26-21 loss at Upperman High.

Green Hill snapped a five-game losing streak to start the season last week against Stratford, leading 15-6 after one quarter and piling up points the rest of the way.

The Hawks scored in a variety of ways, including a defensive scoop and score, a long kickoff return and an offensive guard lining up in the backfield for a pair of short runs.

MJ Christian at The Webb School

Finally tasting victory after a 34-13 victory over Chattanooga-based Grace Baptist Academy, Mt. Juliet Christian Academy’s football Saints journey to Bedford County to take on The Webb School in a Division II-A East contest.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Bell Buckle.

The Feet (yes, the Feet) stand 2-3 on the season, 1-3 in the East and are coming off an open date.

Webb last played on Sept. 25 and came out on the short end of a 45-12 loss at Franklin’s Grace Christian Academy — the second loss in a row for the Feet.

The Saints enter Friday’s contest 1-5 overall and 1-2 in the East.

The dynamic JaMarion “Ja” Thomas scored a pair of touchdowns (75 and 85 yards) after taking short passes from quarterback Christian Link and turning on the jets.

Wilson Central at LaVergne

Still fuming from a 28-10 homecoming loss to Region 4, 6A leader Hendersonville, Wilson Central steps out of region play and visits LaVergne High.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Freedom Field.

The Wolverines enter Friday’s game 5-2 and winners of two straight — a 33-26 shootout with Nashville Overton last week and a 32-27 tussle over Stewarts Creek Sept 18.

Coach Brad Dedman’s Wildcats slipped to 3-4 overall after the Hendersonville loss — a game that found HHS scoring on each of three possessions to start the second half.

Wilson Central must improve its aerial attack after going just 4-of-19 with two interceptions against the Commandos.
