Main Street Preps prototype front page

Main Street Media of Tennessee, the publisher of eight community newspapers, magazines, websites and social media pages, has announced it will be launching a new publication in Davidson and Williamson counties on Wednesday, March 20.

Main Street Preps will focus on high school sports at the 45 high schools in Davidson and Williamson counties. A total of 10,000 copies will be printed each Wednesday and made available for free in racks throughout the two counties at Kroger stores and other high-traffic locations.

The introduction of the new print publication follows the successful October 2018 launch of mainstreetpreps.com, Nashville’s most comprehensive preps website covering sports in eight counties of middle Tennessee (Davidson, Williamson, Rutherford, Wilson, Sumner, Robertson, Cheatham and Dickson).

“According to market statistics, 60% of high school students play a sport so there is intense interest in this topic,” said Dave Gould, President and CEO of Main Street Media of Tennessee. “We have gotten very positive feedback on our mainstreetpreps.com website, especially from fans and coaches in Davidson and Williamson counties, so we are extremely excited to bring them this coverage each week in print.”

Michael Gallagher, the editor of mainstreetpreps.com, will be the editor and designer of the new Main Street Preps print section. Gallagher will be working with about 15 writers and photographers who will be providing content for the new section.

“I’m really excited to take advantage of the talented sports staff we have and expand our coverage into Davidson and Williamson counties,” Gallagher said. “There’s a large void in prep sports coverage in that area and I’m thrilled we get to fill that void and bring all of these schools excellent sports coverage on a weekly basis.”

Main Street Preps will allow Main Street Media of Tennessee to expand its reach for advertisers.

“With the launch of Main Street Preps in Davidson and Williamson counties we now cover the eight county Nashville market,” said Gould. “This will provide us with an opportunity to offer a strong regional buy for advertisers looking to reach the growing Nashville market.”
